No Water, No Chemicals, No Pumice Stones – Just Jeanologia

Jeanologia ages garments with air, without the need for water, chemicals or pumice stones. Heralding the end of traditional stone washing with water and chemicals, the era of air in the textile industry is ushered in through Atmos, an atmospheric, circular, zero-discharge washing process.

Jeanologia marks a new milestone in the textile industry by achieving the authentic vintage look of natural aging and stone wash – without the use of water, pumice stones or chemicals – through Atmos, an innovative circular atmosphere washing process with zero discharge.

The company heralds the end of traditional washing with water, chemicals and stones and ushers in the age of air in the textile industry to achieve an authentic vintage look in both denim and colour, in a sustainable, faster and more cost-effective way.

Instead of using conventional water washers, Jeanologia uses air washers that extract oxygen from the atmosphere and convert it into ozone to treat garments through a controlled and safe abrasion process without the need for stones, water or chemicals.

In this respect, the founder of Jeanologia, Enrique Silla, predicts that “in the next few years the mixture of water and chemicals will be replaced by a mixture of air and ozone. We will find two types of industrial washing machines on the market: water washing machines and air washing machines.”

For Silla, the origin of stone wash has made authentic and vintage garments possible that today all brands try to replicate.

“In the 1970s, the aging of the garments was reproduced with a process that mixed water, chemicals and pumice stone, thus giving rise to the famous stone wash. This process, which is still used today, has a high environmental impact, as well as being totally inefficient” – he pointed out.

Atmospheric washing, the new era in finishing

For Silla, atmospheric washing is a major breakthrough in ozone technology for garment finishing. “We are facing the most important revolution in blue jeans since we launched the first textile laser in 1999,” he said.

After the launch of its first air washer in 2005 under the name G2, Jeanologia has positioned itself in the market as a leader in ozone technology for the garment finishing industry.

Now it’s gone one step further, and thanks to its know-how, its INDRA- patented system and its G2 technology, the company is able to achieve an exact control of humidity and temperature to achieve the authentic vintage effect and natural aging without using water, chemicals or pumice.

Preview of the first Atmos collection

At Kingpins Amsterdam in April Jeanologia premiered its first Atmos collection that shows off how to achieve an authentic vintage look in a sustainable and efficient way in several fashion product categories.

Thus, “Atmos-Natural aging” is the translation of the essence of traditional vintage denim with classic, authentic and timeless finishes but made in a responsible way with G2 ozone and INDRA technology.

The collection also incorporates Tech Artisan Crafted, a microcapsule inspired by workwear made with the same fabric and different finishes based on the values of simplicity, durability and rational management of resources.

It has also developed “Atmos Specials”, a collection inspired by the atmosphere, its shades and shapes, in which the ozone finishes are transferred as a trendy look, with the effects of sinuous shapes, reserves, gradients, ozone bleaches and even tie-dyes.

eDesigner Studio, the experience of designing a virtual garment

In addition, the company’s eDesigner Studio at the event, was dedicated to the revolutionary software for the creation of eDesigner jeans. Attendees had the experience of designing a garment virtually, they got to witness how a virtual collection is developed and what is designed on screen is what you get in production.
